So short of buying a separate 50cc frame and 125 motor and combining them or chopping two bikes up (defeating the point of trying to save money), you can't ride or insure a 125 as a 50. A restrictor won't change anything, it may be as slow as a 50 but in the eyes of the law it's still a 125 and still illegal for you to ride.
POINT. Point 1: Weight roller wear inhibits the smooth shifting. Point 2: Determine when to replace rollers by wear and tear. Scooters are easy to ride to work, school, and shopping, and when they are in the 125-150cc class, they are fast enough. You can ride a moped (max 50cc) without L plates. If you want to ride a motorcycle over 50cc and up to 125cc, you will need to take CBT. Once you have a valid CBT certificate, you can ride a 125cc with L plates. If you want to remove the L plates or ride a more powerful machine, you will need to take the relevant practical tests.
